ESFA Publish 'Academies Financial Handbook 2019'

The Education and Skills Funding Agency have published the 'Academies Financial Handbook 2019'. The 2019 handbook will take effect from 1st September 2019.

One of the key changes in the 2019 handbook includes the requirement for academies to have a robust internal audit programme:-

3.1 All academy trusts MUST have a programme of internal scrutiny to provide independent assurance to the board that its financial and others controls, and risk management procedures, are operating effectively. 

We are continuing to develop and improve our Internal Audit template and have had great feedback from our schools - "the governors and principal have really appreciated the breadth of the programme and have fully engaged with all the areas, it has led to some really interesting and challenging conversations in our governor meetings".
